Goodbye Mike

I've been away from the blogosphere for a bit. I have been reluctant to post much about it here since I usually try to focus on photography, but the last two weeks have been tough. Two weeks ago today one of my good friends, Mike Conley, died in a tragic accident. Since then things have been a blur of emotions and activity with preparations for the funeral and wake, which were held last Sunday in my old stomping grounds of Southern California.
Mike was a talented musician and entrepreneur who touched many lives. We used to play together in a band called MIA, and we had many great experiences touring around the country playing shows. Mike's death brought many friends together, and I made some terrific new friends over the weekend. I can only hope that my funeral will be such a great gathering.
Mike's passing leaves his family in a tough spot, especially his three children. With that in mind we are throwing a benefit for Mike's family. I'll be dusting off the guitar to play a show with my old band MIA. The show is April 28 at the House of Blues in Anaheim with a special acoustic guest appearance by Social Distortion and a reunion of the original Cadillac Tramps. Since our vocalist has passed away, we will have our original singer from Vegas, Todd Sampson, plus guest vocals from Kevin of 7 Seconds and Jello Biafra from the Dead Kennedys. Hoo-boy! All of these are old friends, it's going to be a fun night. Hope to see you there!

I have to go to Las Vegas for a few days, but I'll be back to my normal posting soon, I promise!
